10 Insider Tips To make the most of your wedding day

Congratulations! You’re getting married! This is a huge milestone in your life, and you want to make sure that your wedding day is unforgettable. Here some tips  I’ve gathered from my experience and from other fellow wedding photographers that will help you make your big day one for the books.

First things first, remember that this is YOUR day. It’s not about pleasing everyone else or trying to fit into some preconceived notion of what a wedding “should” be. Take some time to sit down with your partner and talk about what you both want for your wedding. Do you want a big, elaborate affair with all the bells and whistles? Or do you want something more intimate and low-key? Whatever your vision is, make sure you’re both on the same page before you start planning.

Once you’ve got your vision in mind, it’s time to start thinking about the details. And let’s be real, the devil is in the details. Don’t be afraid to get creative and think outside the box. Want to have a doughnut wall instead of a cake? Go for it! Want to have a burger truck instead of a sit-down dinner? Why the heck not? This is your day, and you should make it reflect your personalities.

But, as with anything in life, there are a few things to keep in mind to make sure your wedding day goes smoothly.

Follow along for a few tips to keep in mind,

HIRE A GOOD PHOTOGRAPHER (OBVIOUSLY)

Your wedding day is going to be a blur of emotions, and you’ll want someone there to capture all the little moments you might miss. And don’t skimp on this – a good photographer is worth the investment.

BE PREPARED FOR THE UNEXPECTED.

No matter how much you plan, something is bound to go awry. It might rain. The DJ might be late. Your Great Aunt from the US might get a little too drunk and start dancing on the table. Roll with it, and remember that these are the things that make your day unique and memorable.

DON’T FORGET TO EAT.

It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of the day and forget to eat. But trust us, you’re going to need your energy. Make sure you take the time to sit down and have a meal (and a glass of champagne) with your partner.

TAKE A MOMENT TO BREATHE.

Your wedding day is going to be a whirlwind, but try to take a few moments throughout the day to just stop and take it all in. Look around at all the people who came to celebrate with you, and soak up the love and happiness.

INCORPORATE FAMILY TRADITIONS

Incorporating family traditions into your wedding can add a meaningful and personal touch. From a special family recipe to wearing a piece of heirloom jewelry, it’s a great way to honor your family.

CREATE A WEDDING HASHTAG

Creating a unique wedding hashtag is a great way to collect all the memories and photos shared on social media in one place. It’s also a fun way to involve your guests.

HAVE FUN WITH THE DRESS CODE

Encourage guests to embrace the dress code and have some fun with it. From black-tie affairs to themed weddings, dress codes can add an extra layer of excitement.

PLAN A MEMORABLE EXIT

Planning a grand exit is the perfect way to end your wedding day. From sparklers to confetti, a memorable exit is a great way to make a lasting impression.

MAKE TIME FOR EACH OTHER

Take a few moments throughout the day to spend time together, away from the chaos of the wedding. It’s a great way to savor the moment and create some intimate memories.

INCORPORATE UNIQUE ENTERTAINMENT

Adding unique entertainment can be a great way to create an unforgettable experience for your guests. From a live band to a photo booth, choose entertainment that reflects your personalities and style.

At the end of the day, remember that your wedding is just the beginning of your journey together. It’s easy to get caught up in the details and the stress, but try to remember what this day is really about – you and your partner committing to spend the rest of your lives together.

And if all else fails, just remember the wise words of Beyoncé: “If you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it.”

Congrats, lovebirds!
